We take safeguarding very seriously and ensure that all students are safe at the academy. Together with providing exceptional pastoral care, we are proactive in ensuring all students have information and knowledge to keep them safe at the academy, online and methods for communicating if there are problems.
At the beginning of each year, we work closely with students to emphasise the importance of e-safety. This is then re-visited at other times during the academic year. We are proud that we have a range of support packages to assist students with any pastoral concerns they might have. These include:
- 28 trained year 11 peer mentors
- Dedicated inclusion faculty
- Trained year 12 academic mentors
- Academy counsellor
- Health teams and support workers
- A dynamic, knowledgeable and supportive vertical tutor team for each house
The designated safeguarding lead (DSL) within East Leake Academy is Mr Tom Reid, Assistant Principal.
Other DSL’s include Mr Francis (Acting Principal), as well as our four heads of house, Mr Kitson (Eagle), Mrs Baxter (Harrier), Mr Chambers (Kestrel) and Mr Berry (Osprey). To contact them directly, please phone the main academy telephone number on (01509) 852454.
