On 23 May, our year 7 and 8 young learners set off to explore the science Think Tank.
The trip included the following:
• Journey into the cell planetarium show – the students learnt about organelles in an animal cell and compared them to a plant cell. They then went on an automated adventure to explore the human body using a series of fantastic instruments to peer inside complex living cells. They also uncovered the mystery of DNA and discovered how we all began as a single, tiny cell.
• Forensic Investigators – Jewellery Heist! workshop
Learners became forensic investigators and used a variety of real life techniques to help crack the case. In this hands-on workshop, students tested out fingerprinting and microscopes and found out how forensic scientists and the police work together to solve crimes.
The students also had time to explore the ‘Our World’ gallery and the Science Garden that had many interactive exhibits.
The children had a fabulous day exploring science outside the classroom and its many applications in the real world.
