This term, year 9 students have been working on a new project to explore existing advertisements, starting with assembling a mood board and leading into detailed analysis of their favourite images.

As part of the project they have:
– produced a shoot plan, considering what digital processes they may use, the product they wish to promote, lighting and backgrounds required and props that they may need
– set up the photoshoot, taking pictures of their product from multiple angles with lighting and prop variations
– learnt new Photoshop skills – transferring images, adding, copying and manipulating layers, image tone and colour adjustments, combining with internet based/ stock footage and experimenting with text

The students were thoroughly engaged in their lessons and the results of their work has been fantastic. The skills built during this module are also a sound foundation to the skills and knowledge they will need if they go on to take GCSE photography.
