On Monday, year 8 students participated in an impactful and sensitively delivered workshop addressing the important issue of bullying. The session, presented by a specialist speaker from Stand Against Violence, used the true story of a young girl named Amber to spark meaningful discussions and reflection.

The workshop explored:

  • What constitutes bullying
  • The different types of bullying
  • The roles of primary and secondary victims
  • The bystander effect and its implications
  • Safe and effective strategies for dealing with bullying

The aims of the session were to encourage peer discussion, foster self-reflection and deepen empathy among students. Through real-life examples, students were encouraged to think critically about the effects of bullying and the role they can play in creating a safer, kinder community.

A year 8 student shared their thoughts on the experience:
“I enjoyed the anti-bullying workshop. We heard some real-life examples of bullying, and it made me stop and think.”

This workshop, part of the East Leake Academy’s commitment to promoting positive relationships and raising awareness about bullying, provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn and grow.
