This week’s round-up and highlights
It’s been an eventful and exciting week, packed with activities and achievements across the academy!
Year 7 fundraisers for Breast Cancer Now
Today, our year 7 students participated in ‘Wear it Pink’ day to raise money for Breast Cancer Now, adding a splash of pink to their uniforms with accessories for a great cause. This important initiative supports life-saving research and provides life-changing support for those affected. Learn more about the cause and how you can contribute at wearitpink.org.
Year 7 celebrated with a halloween themed rewards afternoon
A big shoutout to year 7 for achieving over 8,000 merits this term – the most across all year groups! Their hard work was rewarded with a spooky, fun-filled Halloween-themed afternoon. It’s fantastic to see their enthusiasm and team spirit paying off.
Year 9 football workshop with professional Ben Osborn
Our year 9 students were treated to an inspiring workshop with professional footballer Ben Osborn, courtesy of EFD Sport & Education. The day started with an engaging fitness session, helping students work on their teamwork and physical skills. Ben then shared his personal journey into professional sports, discussing the importance of nutrition, rest, and perseverance. The highlight for many was the practical football session, where students had the incredible opportunity to train with Ben on the field. One excited pupil said, “It was the best day of my life!” while another added, “I was really excited to meet Ben, he is an amazing player.” A massive thank you to Ben and EFD Sport & Education for this unforgettable day.
KS3 students enjoyed Inspire Music Event
Our Inspire Music event this week was a hit among KS3 students! The interactive instrument demos were a fantastic way for students to get hands-on with different instruments. A highlight was the St. Pancras Station-style piano setup, which has become a popular spot for everyone to enjoy music together. We extend a huge thank you to Principal Mr Fowlie of Lantern Lane Primary & Nursery School for generously donating two pianos to our music department. We’re incredibly grateful to have such a supportive community!
Music Performance Assessments
Finally, a special mention to all year groups for completing their music performance assessments today. Year 8 had their first experience with playing the blues and it was heartwarming to see students cheering each other on. A wonderful way to end the term.
Well done to everyone involved and have a lovey half term break!
