Hagg Farm Adventure

This week, year 7 students set out on an exciting residential trip to Hagg Farm in the scenic Peak District. Immersed in the beauty of the outdoors, the students engaged in a series of activities designed to challenge their skills and foster teamwork.

The adventure featured a nighttime walk and a campfire where students enjoyed hot chocolate and marshmallows. Students balanced on rugged terrain during rock-hopping exercises and developed their problem-solving skills through strategic teamwork challenges. Orienteering adventures took them exploring with maps and compasses, enhancing their navigational skills.

One of the trip’s highlights was the thrilling caving expedition, where students, equipped with helmets and headlamps, faced the mystery of underground caverns and encouraged one another through each obstacle. The staff at Hagg Farm praised the students for their exemplary behaviour and teamwork.

The trip not only pushed students out of their comfort zones but also left them with unforgettable memories and a sense of achievement. Two more groups set out to Hagg Farm next week, we want to thank everyone involved in making the trip a success.

Breakfast of Champions

Students who maintained a high level of attendance and a positive engagement for learning were invited to a special “Breakfast of Champions” this week. This event recognised their dedication and engagement and it was inspiring to see their commitment to excellence. We’re incredibly proud of these responsible and hardworking students, who continue to set an outstanding example for the academy.

‘Call It Out’

Designed to strengthen our community and promote inclusivity, we’re empowering students to actively shape their academy environment through four dedicated ‘Call It Out’ boxes.

Gratitude shoutouts – students can use a card to express appreciation by acknowledging a friend or teacher.

Report inequality – stand against inequality with an anonymous reporting option. While this system provides an additional option for students to report concerns, it doesn’t replace their ability to speak directly with a trusted adult.
