In December 2022, a number of our sixth form science students had an amazing opportunity to visit CERN – the European Organization for Nuclear Research – in Switzerland.

Accompanied by Mrs Nandha, Mr Berry and Mr Williams, they flew to Geneva for a tour of CERN’s Large Hadron Collider – the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator.

During the trip, the students also visited energy provider, SIG, in Geneva to look at the hydro dam.

There was also time for some cultural and sightseeing activities, including a traditional fondue dinner, visits to the History of Science and Red Cross museums, a trip to the Christmas markets, and a tour of old Geneva and its history.

The students had an amazing time and were a credit to the academy.
