East Leake Academy, part of the Diverse Academies Learning Partnership, today saw students and staff celebrating a record-breaking year for A Level results.

As the sixth form centre goes from strength to strength, students were rewarded with the best set of results to date to be achieved at the academy, with a 100% pass rate.

Students achieved 88.3% A*-C grades and above, with an impressive 62% gaining A*-B grades (up from 49.5% in 2017).  Achievement of A* and A grades also rose to 28.4%, a further uplift from 2017’s excellent results of 21.4%.

This year’s outstanding successes include Jack Cobb, Abigail Hart and Alexander Howes.  With A*, A, A (Biology, Chemistry, Maths) Jack will now take a year out to work and travel. Abigail achieved A*,A*,A*,B (Biology, Maths, Psychology, German) and will head to Birmingham University to study psychology, with Alexander also gaining the academy’s top results of A*, A*, A* (Maths, Further Maths, Physics) and heading to St Andrew’s to study mathematics.

Alex said: “I’m so pleased with my results and can’t wait to take up my place at St. Andrews. I have worked really hard for my A Levels and am just so pleased that the hard work has paid off. My biggest inspiration at East Leake Academy has been Mr Barkley, my maths teacher.”

Abigail said: “It’s such a relief to get these results – I’m absolutely delighted!  I can’t wait to start university to study psychology. East Leake Academy has been a great place to study, especially Mr Heaton, my German teacher.”

Kathy Hardy, Principal said: “These are a phenomenal set of results for the academy and we are immensely proud and delighted with our students’ achievements. A Level results day marks the culmination of months, indeed years of dedication of staff and students. We work extremely hard to ensure our students have the required work ethic towards their studies and involvement in numerous extra-curricular activities in preparation for their next steps.

“Our students have much to celebrate. They have been great role models for our academy and we wish them all the very best in their onward journey – whether that be onto university, training or into employment. We also look forward to welcoming them back to inspire the next generation at some point in the near future.”

The academy invites any students yet to secure a place with a post 16 provider for this September or is considering their post-GCSE options to visit www.eastleake-ac.org.uk or email sixthform@eastleake-ac.org.uk for more information.
