Mrs Wilson leading the charge in SEND provision

East Leake Academy (ELA) has recently unveiled a series of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening its provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Under the guidance of its leadership team, ELA is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, with a particular focus on those requiring additional support.

Since the appointment of Mr Reid as Principal in September, ELA has initiated a journey to enhance its SEND provision. Recognising the importance of targeted support, ELA has invested in expanding its team of dedicated teaching assistants and introducing specialised roles focused on reading and literacy intervention throughout the academy. These initiatives form part of ELA’s broader commitment to ensuring that every student can access the support they need to thrive academically and personally.

In a continued effort to further elevate its SEND provision, ELA is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs E Wilson, Assistant Principal, to the role of Academy SENCo. Mrs Wilson, a seasoned leader within the academy, brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served as Head of Faculty and Head of Year. Her remarkable track record of success in driving personal development initiatives positions her as an ideal candidate to oversee the strategic direction of ELA’s SEND provision.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the national landscape and the chronic underfunding of SEND support in schools, ELA remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing its provision. The leadership team understands the complexities ahead and is prepared to navigate them with determination and creativity, ensuring that every decision made is in the best interests of the students.

The appointment of Mrs Wilson signifies more than a change in leadership, it reaffirms ELA’s unwavering commitment to building a world-class support system for its most vulnerable students. Under her guidance, ELA is poised to advance its support processes, ensuring they are as effective and impactful as possible.

At East Leake Academy, the vision is to inspire, raise aspirations, and create brighter tomorrows for all students. With Mrs Wilson leading the charge in SEND provision, ELA is confident in its ability to make significant strides towards achieving this vision, providing an educational experience that exceeds the needs and expectations of its students and their families.

As ELA progresses on this journey, further updates will be shared. The support and partnership of the community are invaluable, and ELA is excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.

East Leake Academy extends its gratitude for the continued trust and support of its stakeholders and community. Together, as a community, ELA is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of its students.
