Congratulations to our Year 8 dance group in becoming Regional Champions on the 14th February gaining a place in this year’s National Finals in July. The group includes Ella, Florence, Esme and Millie.

After an outstanding run in last year’s competition placing second in the Regional Finals and 5th in the national competition, this group of ambitious girls set about taking their routine to the next level in this year’s competition.

Having had a taste already the girls bounced back with more determination and creativity than ever before. In November they set their sights on the national finals when they put together a routine entitled ‘The Ribbon’. The routine, choreographed by Millie, told the story of four girls with an inseparable friendship. This lyrical piece shows many emotions climaxing with the passing of one of the group.

These young people showed incredible maturity and sensitivity in the way they portrayed heartache and pain with the loss of their friend, in what can only be described as a masterpiece. The judges personally complimented the group on their performance at the end of the competition and made comments such as ‘WOW’ and ‘such a talented group of young people, you have a real chance at the finals’. It is needless to say that the judges were blown away by the level of technical ability and carefully shaped choreography.
