A group of year 7 students proudly represented East Leake Academy at the inclusive Panathlon Challenge, held at Nottingham Trent University on Thursday 6 February. Accompanied by Mrs Clarkstone and Mrs Holroyd, the students took part in a range of activities, including skittles, basketball, football, curling, and balancing challenges.

Panathlon is a national charity that provides young people with disabilities and special educational needs the opportunity to engage in competitive sport. During the 2023-24 academic year, a record-breaking 66,706 young people participated in Panathlon events, either through inter-school competitions or the charity’s in-school virtual programme.

This year, our participating year 7 students showcased their sporting skills and demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, respect and enthusiasm throughout the event. Their positive attitude and outstanding representation of the school were a source of great pride for both staff and peers.

Mrs. Clarkstone praised the students for their efforts, saying, “Their respect for others and the way they conducted themselves was simply fantastic. We were incredibly proud to see them embrace the challenge and enjoy the experience.”

The event was a valuable opportunity for students to develop their confidence, teamwork, and resilience while celebrating inclusivity in sport. Well done year 7!
