The past few weeks have been a lively and enriching time for our sixth form, filled with academic exploration, friendly competition, and well-deserved celebrations.
University of Nottingham visit
On Monday 9 March, our year 12 students visited the University of Nottingham for an inspiring and informative day. Student ambassadors welcomed the group and offered valuable insight into life at university, from study expectations to the experience of living on campus.
Students enjoyed a guided tour of the university grounds before taking part in an interactive workshop focused on choosing the right degree courses. The session encouraged thoughtful decision‑making and gave students plenty to consider as they begin planning their future pathways. We look forward to welcoming representatives from the University of Nottingham again later this year as part of our all year round sixth form enrichment.

Friendly football
Last Friday 13 March, the sports field came alive with an invitation football match between current year 13 students and ELA staff, versus, prospective new year 12 joining September 2026. The game was full of energy and good‑natured competition, ending in an exciting 3–3 draw.
Staff and current sixth formers praised the match as a fantastic opportunity for new students to connect and get a feel for sixth form life. A second invitational event will take place after Easter, this time for students keen to try out tennis, before exam season begins.

Rewards trip
On Tuesday 17 March, year 13 students enjoyed a well-earned rewards trip to Tenpin in Nottingham. There was a choice of bowling or Lazar Quest, with both groups returning full of enthusiasm.
A highlight of the evening was the unexpectedly impressive bowling talents of Mr Jackson and Mrs Williamson, much to the delight (and slight surprise!) of the students. Laughter, friendly competition, and a shared sense of celebration made the night one to remember.
