Students at East Leake Academy — part of Diverse Academies Trust — are celebrating today after receiving a strong set of A level results that have opened doors to university, apprenticeships and employment opportunities.
There was a real sense of excitement across the academy as students collected their results and reflected on the hard work that has led to this moment. Students achieved a 94% pass rate overall, attaining an average grade of C, while 19% secured top grades of A* or A.
Among those celebrating was Madeleine who has achieved three A* grades in English literature, history and media studies. Madeleine has secured a place at Exeter College at the University of Oxford to study English language and literature. Thrilled with her results, Madeleine said: “I am ecstatic! I wish to thank all my subject teachers.”
James also achieved excellent grades with three A*s in mathematics, further mathematics and physics, and an A in economics. Speaking about his results, James said: “I feel very happy – all my hard work has paid off. I will be attending the University of Warwick to study mathematics, operational research, statistics and economics (‘MORSE’).”
Celebrations were in order for Georgia who achieved three A grades in chemistry, German and mathematics as well as a B in further mathematics. Georgia will attend Lancaster University to study mathematics from September, saying: “I am very happy with my results which are much better than expected.”
Another student celebrating outstanding results is Viktoriia, who achieved two A grades in English language and film studies, alongside Bs in psychology and the extended project qualification (EPQ). Viktoriia has secured a place at University College London (UCL) to study psychology. Reflecting on her results, she said: “I am incredibly shocked and happy with my results. I would like to thank Mr Ferguson, Mr Bullivant and Mrs Howlett.”
Other students celebrating include Matthew and Jack. Mathew has achieved a grade A in biology, and two Bs in mathematics and sports studies. Jack achieved A in history and two Bs in economics and politics. Both will take up places at university come September with Matthew attending the University of Nottingham to study biology, and Jack attending Warwick University to study politics.
Evie achieved an A* in chemistry, and two As for economics and mathematics. These results have secured Evie a place at the University of Sheffield to study economics and mathematics. Evie said: “I am over the moon with my results. I would like to thank my chemistry teacher, Miss Fox.”
Vice Principal, Tim Jackson, said: “Results day is always a special occasion because it marks the culmination of years of dedication and effort. We are delighted to see our students achieve excellent results that will enable them to pursue a wide range of exciting opportunities. They should be extremely proud of what they have accomplished.”
