East Leake Academy hosts road safety workshops for students
This week, East Leake Academy welcomed Via’s Safer Highways team to run road safety workshops for students in years 7, 11 and 12. The workshops are part of the school’s personal development program, aimed at teaching students important skills to stay safe on the roads and support their overall health and wellbeing.
The sessions are designed to help students make safe and smart choices, whether they are walking, cycling or driving. The academy is committed to helping students stay safe, both on the road and in everyday life.
Teachers and students alike praised the workshops for their relevance and practical insights. As part of the academy’s broader curriculum, these sessions are designed to empower students with life skills that will protect their physical and mental health, while also supporting their independence as they grow older.
10k night walk for cancer charity
Well done to year 9 student Ryan, who participated in a 10k night walk last week to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Inspired by his New Year’s resolution to support charitable causes, Ryan chose this event to contribute to the fight against cancer.
Ryan shared, “My mum and I are doing this walk for a family member and her friends who have been affected by cancer. We can do it! Thank you for your help.”
Cancer Research UK underscores the impact of each donation towards groundbreaking research aimed at curing all cancers. Supporters can contribute to Ryan’s fundraising efforts through his Giving Page: Ryan’s Giving Page.
