There was an air of excitement today at East Leake Academy – part of Diverse Academies Trust – as year 11 students collected their GCSE results. This year’s outcomes are the strongest in the academy’s history, with students achieving the highest attainment 8 score in a decade. Results were above the national average, with 76% of all students achieving a grade 4 and above in their GCSEs.
Principal, Tom Reid, said: “These are the best GCSE results we have ever seen at East Leake Academy, and we couldn’t be prouder of our students. Their resilience, dedication and determination have been outstanding, and these results reflect their hard work and the support they have received from our staff and families.”
Among those celebrating was Katie Owen, who achieved an extraordinary ten grade 9s, including a Distinction* in music and further maths. She said: “I am delighted with my results. Thank you to all my subject teachers who supported me throughout my GCSE studies.” Katie is undecided on where she will study her A levels come September.
Sammy Humphreys also enjoyed outstanding success, securing six grade 9s in further maths, maths, triple science, computing, English literature and English language. Reflecting on the achievement, Sammy said: “I am exceptionally happy with my results and will be staying on at East Leake Academy sixth form to study maths, further maths, physics and German.”
Celebrations continued for Tom Devine, who earned grade 9s in maths, chemistry, physics, business, and design and technology, two 8s and a grade 7. Tom will be staying at East Leake Academy to study A levels. Tom commented: “I am very happy with my results.”



Katie Woodhouse was another standout student, earning three 9s, three 8s, a grade seven and a Distinction. Katie will be continuing her journey at East Leake Academy sixth form for A levels. She reflected: “I am extremely happy with my results. I’d like to give a special thanks to Mr Barkley and Mr Collins.”
Special mentions go to Louis Wheeler, Jess Belshaw and Olivia Exton who have demonstrated remarkable determination and resilience which are reflected in their results.
Principal, Tom Reid, continued: “The celebration of today’s results was about more than individual achievements – it reflects the collective effort, support, and determination of the year group, staff team and parents and carers. The whole East Leake community should be proud of what these students have achieved.”
Many of the students celebrating today will build on their outstanding achievements as they take up post 16 study at East Leake Academy’s sixth form centre.
