There was an air of excitement today at East Leake Academy – part of Diverse Academies Trust – as students collected their A level results. Following another set of fantastic grades, students will now go on to study at the university of their choice or pursue other pathways such as apprenticeships, gap years or entering employment.
Overall, East Leake had a 97.2% pass rate with students achieving an average grade score of C+, with 23.4% of top performers achieving A* and A grades.
One student who was delighted with his results was Sam Hill. With an A* grade in economics and A grades in mathematics and physics, Sam will now go on to study engineering at Derby University. He said: “I am very excited with my results and wasn’t expecting them. I honestly can’t believe it. I’d like to thank Mr Collins for his help and support during my time at sixth form.”
Demonstrating outstanding progress over the last seven years was Otto Holmes who was delighted with his A level results. With three grade Bs in film studies, English literature and history, Otto said: “I’m very happy with my results. I’m excited to study history at university and go on to train to become a qualified history teacher”. Otto is heading to Nottingham Trent University to study film and history from September.
Also demonstrating outstanding progress was Emilia Gee, who achieved grade B in English language, C in English literature, and C in psychology. Emilia said: “I’m very excited with my results and can’t believe it!” She will be taking a gap year before applying to York St John University to study fashion marketing and psychology.
Additionally, Owen Onobhamiukor is delighted to be taking up a place at the University of Plymouth to study medicine after being awarded grade As in biology, chemistry and maths. Owen said: “I am very pleased with my results.”
Another student celebrating today was Erin Geeson. After achieving three A grades in sociology, history and English language. Erin has decided a year out before deciding on her next steps, stating: “I’m excited to start my gap year.”
Vice Principal, Tim Jackson, said: “We were delighted to be able to celebrate our year 13 students’ great set of A level and Level 3 examination results today. With another year of excellent results, our students are moving onto a wide range of university, apprenticeships and employment destinations.
“We are very proud of their hard work and they thoroughly deserve these results. On behalf of everyone at East Leake Academy, we wish them well for their future.”
